Hello! I'm Nithyakala Rajendran, Senior Software Engineer with 8+ years of full-stack experience. Expertise in React and Next.js on the frontend, and IBM DB2, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB on the backend. Proficient with AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, S3, Amplify, and AppSync. Experienced in building robust API layers using both REST and GraphQL.
I don't just write code; I strive to build high-performance, scalable, and maintainable systems that are clean, responsive, and accessible. By combining technical expertise with business insight, I make tool-agnostic decisions to deliver the most effective solutions for each challenge.

Senior Software Engineer

As a key member of the product team, I contribute to the development of Presto one application, focusing on displaying all customer orders and feedback.
- Built responsive UI components using Javascript, React, React Hooks, Redux, Vite and Tailwind CSS.
- Developed reusable components from Figma designs, wrote Storybook stories, and drove adoption across the organization.
- Optimized GraphQL queries/mutations with AWS AppSync, Amplify, Lambdas, and integrated S3, OpenSearch, Postgres, Redshift, and DynamoDB.
- Led SSO exploration and implemented Auth0 for authentication with OneLogin Single Sign-On for internal users, Google OAuth for customers, and enforced RBAC using JWT.
- Rebuilt payments Point of Sale (POS) app with Capcitor.js, React, and Redux, significantly cutting deployment time compared to the native Android App
- Designed and built a real-time order management system for drive-through restaurants using AWS Appsync, GraphQL, Kafka and React.
- Developed end-to-end tests using Playwright, covering critical user flows.
- Proficient in designing and implementing APIs with Python and Django REST Framework.
- Utilized SWR for efficient client-side caching and stale-while-revalidate data fetching, and implemented virtual scrolling to render large datasets seamlessly and enhance UI performance.
- Increased unit test coverage from 60% to 80% using Jest and React Testing Library.
- Collaborated with UI/UX designers to translate complex Figma mockups into pixel-perfect, responsive components.
- Built new features like a feedback system and voice session viewer using Next.js, Typescript, SSR, Shadcn/ui, Zustand and Postgres.
